Muscle relaxing gear

There are multiple ways to treat your body after a tough workout or a rough game you just played. Most people say “Ice” or “Ice baths” and that is a good way to to tone down swelling and heal the muscles that are hurting but other treatments professionals use are “Copper fit” that comes in many different styles for body parts. Normatech is good but it is more expensive. Message guns help to as they can get into the muscle and find tighter spaces.

There are other treatments but most professionals use the ones listed above and do lots of Ice Baths which are highly recommended. The importance of using these materials plays a much bigger role than many athletes assume. Trusting the process and the experts who study the technology on how to help the body last longer through different types of recovery processes will make a difference.

Maintaining a good healthy body

Not only is exercising and getting muscle and abs good for your body and to be in top shape but also it is important to manage what you put in your body as well. Knowing how much food to put into your body is important along with knowing what foods will help out more. A lot of athletes choose to eat more of something more than others just based on the sport they play. But in general everything listed on the image below can help you gain proper muscle and feed your body with better food than what you would get at a fast food place. In the example below you see Ashton Eaton who is a 2 time olympic champion for America and was a Decathlete, and these were examples of what he would eat in his diet.

Self practice during COVID-19

I know everyone out there has stopped physical sports or doing physical activities in general. That means your stuck at home during this tough crisis the world is going through right now. But does that mean you can’t physically stay in shape or do things to continue to craft your skills and become better than the players who aren’t continuing to practice. I want you to post self evaluation videos of staying in shape because if you stop doing something you will slowly lose the skill or become less athletic than when you were playing everyday. Alot of gyms on social media have been posting great content about working out from home. This is a great practice to stay in shape. Do your part and join the club!

Take injuries serious

Alot of athletes don’t take being injured serious and say they will play with them not being 100%. It’s the nature of being a competitor and wanting to be out there with the team to win. We get it. Your team would rather have you longterm than to play that next game and possibly injure yourself to the point where you have to take alot of time off because of surgery. People should pay attention to this rule that was published by Sportsmd.com called “Price Rule”.

Other rules you should follow to not get injured are

Even in winter sports there are many precautions that need to be done for your safety.

A good rule or method to stick by is this guide of workload for the youth.

Even what you may think is not a way to get hurt really is one of the most dangerous. Trampolines are a leading cause of injuries. Jumping off of springs up into the air causes many possibilities for injuries.

How to minimize the risk of getting hurt playing sports!

Sports injuries happen everyday. Unfortunate circumstances happen and different situations cause chaos but what are some ways that can help prevent it? Sure you never know when or how you will or can get hurt but there are some ways to either avoid getting hurt, making an injury worse, or strengthening the body to be able to take more pressure. Here are some steps that can be taken to help prevent injuries in sports. By following each step provided should increase the chances of not getting injured. Seeing the Doctor which you must do to play sports for a “Physical” in which you must pass to even play. Building gradually! Dont test your body likes it been doing it forever. The best way to build is to gradually do more or last longer. Also dont be the tough guy and not wear the proper equipment as that is a big reason why injuries happen. Warming up and stretching is so crucial that young ages feel they dont need to. Stretching helps the muscles prepare instead of being tight and possibly pulling something and now your injured because you felt you didn’t need to. Using the right technique is crucial as well especially if you want to be the best. Having bad technique can also harm your body as well and taking breaks instead of overdoing your body is not smart. Breaks are needed just like drinking water. Also dont play when you’re injured its not the end of the world if you miss a game to let the body rest and become fully healthy again. Trust me!

Stretching is the most important part to prevent injuries when playing sports.

Updates to injuries of Professional Athletes.

Cam Newton is the Quarterback for the Carolina Panthers who had injured his foot playing football. It’s a common injury for a mobile quarterback who wasn’t afraid to take shots when he was running. In the reading it talks about all the precautions taken to injuries and how seeing multiple doctors doesn’t hurt to get different opinions.

2)

Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors had torn his ACL in last years NBA Finals and has had a very long recovery but seems to be going well enough that he hasn’t ruled out playing this year.

3)

Zack Britton is a major league baseball reliever for the New York Yankees and was recently injured during batting practice when a line shot hit his wrist and caused him to have a bruised wrist. Even though this wasn’t his fault and got injured during his part of the game its still an injury that happens and there are procedures in helping him get back to playing as soon as possible.

Tiger woods is a legend of the game of golf. But in this case Tiger listened to his body and he made the decision to withdraw from a golf tournament because he saw the bigger picture and didn’t want to hurt himself even more.

5)

Serena Williams is a legend of the tennis world who had a similar story to Tiger Woods. Serena was injured but really wanted to play in one of her favorite tournaments and tries everything she could to get healthy and this is what she had to say. “…unfortunately my back is still not right and I know I should not take to the court.” This is the self control and body talk that most people don’t listen to and end up hurting themselves even more.

Conclusion: I pointed out these stories for specific reasons. Even though they aren’t the most recent each one has a powerful message that is being sent to future generations in the sports industry. You have Cam Newton seeing multiple doctors for more opinions. Klay Thompson who is anxious to play the following season after a torn ACL. but is following doctors orders. Zack Britton being unlucky and getting hurt by batting practice but now will go into the procedure of recovering instead of playing still. Tiger and Serena both doing the most important thing you can do before an injury gets worse and that’s listening to your body. I want every younger generation who plays sports to understand how powerful that is and to listen and understand these legends of the sport that its okay to miss a tournament to recover from an injury because the tournament will be there next year but you never know if your blessed enough to play the sport the next day. Take action!

Injuries shouldn’t stop you from playing the sports you love!

4 Things To Help The Body

  1. Resting! The main problem for sports injuries is that there is no rest. The body is like a car. If you run the car without getting new oil changes it will break down eventually. Same with the body. Resting is the oil you must have in order to help stay in great condition and perform at high levels.
  2. Ice the body: Ice helps in more ways than you know. Regardless if it doesn’t hurt applying ice will make the body not swell, and will help so your muscles don’t cramp as well. If you are injured applying ice should be a good first step so you keep the swelling down.
  3. Massage: Massages are underrated. You don’t really hear about it much in the sports world but believe it or not the pros actually get massages all the time. Non-Professional athletes don’t know how much massages help because they are never really told that they should do it after playing. Massages help significantly calm the muscles and relaxes the body which helps with step 1.
  4. Body control: Your body is your main factor. It tells you before something happens and it’s about catching those signs. If something doesn’t feel right the only person to prevent a serious injury is you, in other words thats the bodies sign telling you to take it a little easy if not just stop and take care of that part of the body that isn’t working properly.

Doing these 4 things will definitely help in preventing injuries while playing sports.

Making it to the Pros

In life you’re going to have injuries, bad decisions, good decisions, and often times put yourself in a learning position. Everyday people learn something and the 1 thing I hope I can teach you is how to take care of your body after playing sports or preparing for a sport. This message is to all athletes, no one is invincible, having recovery for your body isn’t an option, it is a requirement!

Im going to focus on what’s been happening most recently and that is baseball injuries. It’s spring training and you have guys that have been injured since last year and are still affected by this injury. Yes Major league teams have recovery for their players but sometimes recovery isn’t just about getting work done to your body, the most important is rest recovery. You might ask well they can’t rest because they have to play everyday, (Depending on your sport) and that is true and false. Is it best for your best players to play everyday? Yes. Is it best for them to rest and be fully healthy all CAREER long? Yes. Theres always an in between when it comes to managers and trying to decide when to give a guy a day off but it ultimately comes down to the player. Not all but the majority of professional athletes say they are fine to play even when they are hurting and that’s where the bad decision I talked about comes into play. The only person who knows the body best is yourself. No one can tell you how you’re feeling so it’s up to you to speak up.

Being healthy results in performing at your best and that’s what all athletes want. But when something isn’t right you will have weak spots which result in further injury or possibly losing too. Now I want you to look yourself in the mirror and can you tell yourself that I’ve been 100% honest with my health when playing or have I lied and played injured? If you can say yes then you understand your body and most likely will have the longer career. If you say no then ask yourself why you went against your body?

Protecting our kids from sports injury!

Kids safety should be first priority right? But in this day and age its all about being number 1 and getting that trophy for 1st place at your local tournament. Now striving to be number 1 is important however having a long lasting career and playing professionally sounds a lot better no? Kids injuries have risen due to the fact of load management not being strict on youth athletes. It’s a tragedy to see kids with such passion and talent for a sport they play but also have surgeries for tissue tears and broken bones. No parent wants to see their kid hurt or crying in pain but it’s because of the treatment the body doesn’t receive after playing sports or practicing for hours that causes these issues to happen frequently. Its time to put an end.

Young athletes should be active more than being at home. But our bodies can only take so much before an injury occurs. When playing competitive sports its important to treat your body by wrapping it with ice or putting a gel to relieve the muscle and of course the number 1 treatment you should do is rest. When the season is over its very important to rest after and not play year round and having tournaments every weekend. I was one of the kids who played year round and traveling out of town for tournaments and it costed me. I had arm problems after so much throwing for baseball that my body never rested to where I used all the miles my arm had at such a young age. I was also not treating my arm either which also took its toll on me which is why I can’t stress it enough that these things are important. Just because you’re young and athletic doesn’t mean you’re invincible. Parents its up to you as well to make sure your kid is being treated and taking care of the body to last longer and be stronger.

Proper equipment could help reduce the chance of injury.
